Holiday Parks in North Wales On the Hunt for Easter Eggs!

Staying at holiday parks in North Wales with the kids and want a fantastic day out for the whole family this half-term? Then be sure to make your way to Penrhyn Castle over the 18th and 19th of April for a delightful two days of excitement!

Easter goes hand in hand with chocolate eggs and has done since ancient times during Easteride. In the past, chicken eggs would be used after they’d been painted vivid colours but thankfully, modern times have seen them become far more delicious!

The symbolism of the egg for Easter refers to Christ’s empty tomb after his resurrection and the egg is a perfect metaphor for this as it appears to be lifeless but in fact, bears a new life. Pope Paul V declared: “Bless, O Lord! we beseech thee, this thy creature of eggs, that it may become a wholesome sustenance to thy faithful servants, eating it in thankfulness to thee on account of the resurrection of the Lord.”

However, the use of the Easter egg actually predates Christianity by nearly 60,000 years! Findings have suggested that Africans used to give ostrich eggs to one another that were decorated.

In more recent times, anEaster egg hunt has been popularised for young children as it’s a great way to commemorate and have fun at the same time. Depending on the location, the eggs will vary in size and colour but in the United Kingdom, chocolate eggs are most common for the hunt.

Another thing synonymous with Easter is of course, the Easter Bunny and he’ll be making an appearance at Penrhyn Castle for the Easter Egg hunt over two days of fantastic fun. Penrhyn’s illustrious and gorgeous grounds are the perfect location for some outdoor entertainment and you, the kids and the Easter Bunny can enjoy two days of egg hunting fun.

Entry is the same price as regular admission for this event in Bangor and as there’s so much to see at this special castle away from Easter activities, it could prove to be a brilliant day for you and the whole family.
